Insure vs Ensure and Lets Throw in Assure for Good Measure

In the process of coding, especially when people may see the messages generated by my code, I often run into grammatical stuff. So here is one from today:

… in order to [ensure|insure] the device is working …

So here is my research and conclusion:

assure: completely wrong in this case, assure is an action done to people or living sentient beings, you can assure someone of something.
insure: sounds okay, but not the best for the job since insure conjures a financial component, insure against your computer blowing up etc. and setting your house on fire, fire insurace .
ensure: this is the word for the job, it generally means to prevent an even or make sure some event happens.

Remember, someone will eventually see your error and notification messages and they’ll probably be unhappy with you, at least your grammar will be perfect.

I wish the programmers here would put a little effort in to making sure their error messages make sense
