IM Status Explained: s/:(/:)/g

I have gotten asked by a few people about my IM status which is currently ‘s/:(/:)/g’. I have decided to explain what this means.

In linux, there are a family of file editors called vi. In vi, the search and replace command takes the format :s/<old text>/<new text>/[g], the command (and my status) would simply replace the frowny face ‘:(‘ with the smiley face ‘:)’. The ‘g’ (global) tells the command to do this throughout the entire document. So there you have it, my status on IM explained and now you know how to search and replace text in vi :) .
